Read all issues of the Sonic Forces Prequel Comic for free right here! Now evidence is mounting that there may be DLC for the game that adds a True Ending to Sonic Forces. In our review of Sonic Forces we commented on the abruptness of some of the game's storyline - for example, how main villains such as Infinite, Chaos and even Eggman just disappear without explanation. Well, the Sonic Mania DLC could be exciting at least. Having him just be an Invincibility switch you can turn on or off right from the beginning of the game seems to be upsetting a fair number of fans. Super Sonic is meant to be a reward, either by getting all the Chaos Emeralds or by getting to the final chapter of the game. This Super Sonic DLC seems to add to that. SEGA and Sonic Team have been accused, not the least by us, of cheapening out on Sonic Forces, such as replacing cutscenes with text, reusing the same bosses frequently and making all the levels incredibly short. And perhaps most annoyingly, there is no special button to activate Super Sonic after getting 50 Rings the way you do in Sonic Mania - it just automatically happens, turning Sonic invincible as long as you have Rings.
There are no Special Stages to earn Chaos Emeralds, or any sort of challenges to unlock Super Sonic, or any real new content of any kind. The rumored "True Secret Ending" we reference in the original post is still nowhere to be seen. While it's neat that this DLC is free, like Sonic Forces in general it does come with a lot of fan disappointment. Once installed simply activate him in-game then when you get 50 Rings Sonic will transform into Super Sonic - and that goes for both Classic and Modern Sonic stages, although obviously not for Avatar stages.
